Welcome! Thank you for visiting today. I have been anticipating your visit. This may be your first time here, but this magazine blog has actually been in existence for a while. (Since June 2010)

My professional career began in the hospitality industry – cleaning toilets as a matter of fact! I guess you could say I literally learned the industry from the ground up.

I have witnessed infrastructure challenges and developments, changing trends in the industry, various management styles and hundreds of memorable guests.

The hospitality industry has been a place of happiness for me because I genuinely enjoy interacting with other people. As you probably know, the hospitality industry kind of requires interaction with people. It has come easy for me, like breathing.

Secrets of a Thriving Hotel began simply as a blog to share personal stories from working at a hotel. That was a few years ago. It has since evolved into something more – something beyond me, personally.

Over the years, I gained experience as a hotel manager and almost everything in-between. Even though my career has shifted and I currently work on a leadership team in health care, I am still passionate and committed to highlighting the hospitality industry and the amazing employees that are essential for a successful hotel business.

I am still using every single skill I acquired in the hospitality industry, and those skills are being sharpened even more as I regularly interact with patients, medical staff, managers, directors, and yes – even housekeepers. Instead of assisting guests during their hotel stay and creating memorable experiences for them, I am meeting people during some of their most vulnerable, critical moments of life.

Most visitors to this blog are currently involved in the hospitality industry in some capacity, are curious about business and possibly exploring a new career, or like myself, have hospitality deeply rooted in their professional career.

Regardless, thank you for reading my blog. I hope you leave with at least a small detail of something you can use to improve whatever you are doing – wherever you may be.
